Table Numbers
Small pieces, but they are on every table in the room, and they are the fastest way to make a room look considered rather than assembled.
Printed to match everything else on the table
Table numbers are almost never ordered on their own, and that is the point. Because your invitations, place cards, menus, seating chart and welcome sign are printed on the same floor, the number on the table can carry the same typeface, the same colours and the same paper as the rest of the day. Order them separately from separate suppliers and you get five near-misses instead of one look.
If you already have artwork from a stationer or designer, send it — we print for the trade every week and we are used to working to someone else's file. If you do not, we will design them with the rest of your suite.
Numbering is automatic, not manual
We print with variable data, which means numbering one to thirty is a single job rather than thirty jobs. It also means you are not paying a setup cost per number, and that changing table twelve to "Top Table" the day before approval is a text edit rather than a reprint. The same process handles named tables instead of numbers, which is increasingly what people ask for — suburbs, songs, places you have been together.
Materials
The right material depends on how the table is dressed and how much light is in the room.
- Card stock — the same stock as your menus and place cards, so the table reads as a set. Cheapest, and the easiest to match.
- Acrylic — clear, frosted or coloured, printed with white ink so the type stays opaque. This is the one that photographs well.
- Mirror acrylic — gold, silver or rose, for rooms with enough light to make the mirror work.
- PVC foam board — rigid and matte, for larger numbers that need to stand without a holder.
If the material you want is not on that list we can usually bring it in. We are a custom print house, not a catalogue.
Sizes
Most table numbers are printed at one of three sizes, and we cut to a custom size where the table dressing calls for it.
- A6 — 105 × 148mm — the smallest that still reads across a round table. Sits neatly in a holder without competing with the centrepiece.
- A5 — 148 × 210mm — the size we print most. Legible from the doorway of a normal function room, still small enough to leave the table alone.
- A4 — 210 × 297mm — for long banquet tables, big rooms, or where the number doubles as a design piece rather than just a label.
- Custom — any size or shape, including tall freestanding numbers and cut-to-outline pieces.
Table numbers fail in one of two ways: too small to find from the door, or so large they fight the centrepiece. If you are unsure, tell us your guest count, your table layout and whether the numbers sit flat, in a holder or on a stand, and we will recommend a size rather than let you guess.
