Large Format Printing

Anything bigger than a poster: banners, backdrops, rigid signs, floor and wall graphics — printed, cut and finished on our own floor in Ravenhall.

Event Signs does large format printing in-house in Melbourne on rigid boards, acrylic and mirror acrylic, vinyl, mesh, fabric and adhesive vinyl, with a white ink channel on the UV flatbed. Rigid panels print up to 1.2m by 2.4m and cut to any shape; banners and fabric print to size. Standard turnaround is 2 to 3 business days to dispatch from artwork approval.

Two kinds of large format

White ink, which most large format printers do not have

Our flatbed runs a white ink channel. On clear acrylic, mirror and dark board, colour printed without white underneath looks thin or disappears. We lay opaque white as a base under the colour, or as the artwork itself, so a logo on clear acrylic stays solid and a black board can carry crisp white type.

Finishing

Cutting to shape, laminating, mounting, hemming and eyeleting are all done here. That is the part that usually adds days when a printer sends work out to a finisher — here it is the same building and the same afternoon.

Frequently asked questions

What is large format printing?
Large format printing is printing at sizes bigger than standard paper presses handle: banners, backdrops, rigid signs, floor and wall graphics. It is done either directly onto rigid board on a flatbed printer, or onto flexible vinyl, mesh and fabric printed to size.
How big can you print?
Rigid panels print up to 1.2m by 2.4m as a single piece and are joined for anything larger. Banners, fabric and vinyl print to the size you need.
What materials can you print large format on?
Foam board, PVC, corflute, ACM, screenboard, timber and MDF, clear, white, frosted and mirror acrylic, vinyl and mesh banners, tension fabric, floor vinyl, wall decals and window graphics. We can source materials we do not hold.
What resolution do large format files need?
About 150 dpi at final size is enough for most large format work, because it is viewed from further away. Supply a PDF at final size with 3mm bleed, fonts outlined and a separate cut line for shaped pieces.
Can you print white ink large format?
Yes. Our UV flatbed has a white channel, used as an opaque base under colour on clear and dark materials or as the artwork itself, such as white type on black board or clear acrylic.
How long does large format printing take?
Standard turnaround is 2 to 3 business days to dispatch from artwork approval. Same day is available on print-ready artwork approved before 1pm, with a surcharge.
