What you are actually looking at
Most of these are printed on rigid board — corflute for anything that needs to be light and cheap to freight, PVC foam board where the edge needs to look clean, honeycomb board for larger panels that have to stay flat, and acrylic or mirror acrylic where the piece is meant to be the thing people photograph. The 3D pieces are cut and built rather than printed flat. If a material is not on that list we can usually bring it in, because we are a custom print house rather than a catalogue.
How a job actually runs
You send your date, your sizes and any inspiration you have saved. We quote it, then design and send a proof. Nothing goes on a machine until you have approved that proof. From approval, standard turnaround is 2 to 3 business days to dispatch, and same day printing is available on artwork approved before 1pm. Most orders ship direct to you rather than to the venue, so you can open the box and check it while there is still time to fix something.
Getting the size right
The single most common thing people get wrong is scale, and a photo will not tell you. A welcome sign at the top of a long winery or property driveway has to read from twenty metres, so A0 or a custom size earns its cost. In a hotel foyer or a smaller function room, A1 is usually plenty and A0 will crowd the space. Seating charts are the same story in reverse — guest count matters less than legibility, which is why 1m × 2m is the size we print most. Marquees and barns almost always need a freestanding easel, and plenty of function rooms will not let you fix anything to a wall, so it is worth asking your venue before you settle on a format. Tell us the space and the guest count and we will recommend a size rather than let you guess.
