What a custom cutout costs
Custom cutouts start from around $50 inc GST, moving up with height, material and how intricate the cut is. A life-size person cut to outline costs more than a simple shape, and a freestanding strut adds a little. Send the photo or artwork and the height you want and we will quote it.
What cutouts are made from
Most cutouts are printed on rigid board and cut to the outline of your artwork in-house. For indoor use, foam board or PVC foam board gives a crisp, matte finish that photographs well. For anything going outside, we use a weatherproof board instead. If it needs to stand on its own rather than lean or be held, it becomes a standee with a fitted support.
Getting a good photo cutout
A life-size cutout is printed far larger than the photo was ever meant to be seen, so the original matters. Use the largest, sharpest version you have — the original from a phone or camera, not a screenshot or a photo saved from social media, which have been compressed. A clear outline helps too: a person against a plain background cuts more cleanly than one standing in a crowd. Send what you have and we will tell you honestly whether it will hold up at the size you want.
